As we depend more on technology, caring for your eyes is vital to keep our vision at optimum levels. Prolonged screen time can cause eye dryness, blurry vision, and headaches.

Staring at digital devices dries out the eyes because it decreases your blink rate by a third to a half, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Luckily, there are things you can do to preserve your eye health and even improve it.

1. Don’t sit too close. Position yourself 18-25 inches from your computer screen. Invest in a computer stand to avoid neck strain.

2. Take breaks. Step away from your computer every 20 minutes. Also look at an object at least 20 feet away to reset your vision.

3. Invest in a screen filter to reduce glare.

4. Use a humidifier if your eyes feel dry.
