Healthy Mocktails for Your Dry January

2023 is finally here! Time to recalibrate and shed old habits that may be holding you back. If one of your New Year’s resolutions involves cutting back on the booze, then give these faux cocktails a try. The ingredients make a delicious, nutritious combination.

Muddled Blueberry Rosemary Refresher

Ingredients

7-8 blueberries

1 sprig of rosemary, stripped

1 oz agave

1 oz fresh lemon juice, strained

4 oz sparkling mineral water

Ice

Directions:

Gently muddle blueberries, rosemary leaves, and agave in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add lemon juice and shake, covered, with ice vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain through a mesh strainer into a tall glass of ice. Top with sparkling water and stir to combine.

Coconut, Cucumber, Lime, and Mint Cooler

Ingredients

4 cups of coconut water

2 cucumbers sliced very thinly

1/2 cup of lime juice

1/4 cup of sugar (optional)

1/4 cup of chopped organic mint leaves

Directions:

Faux Margaritas

Ingredients

2/3 cup fresh lime juice

1/3 cup fresh orange juice

1/3 cup light agave syrup

Kosher salt

1 cup ice cubes

1 cup chilled lime seltzer

Directions

Combine the lime juice, orange juice and agave in a measuring cup. Pour into a 12-compartment ice cube tray and freeze until solid, at least 4 hours and up to overnight.

Pour the salt into a small dish. Dip the rims of 2 glasses in water, then dip the rims in the salt to coat.

Combine the ice cubes, seltzer and frozen juice cubes in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour into salt-rimmed glasses and serve immediately.

Tropical Mocktail

Ingredients

3/4 cup pineapple juice

1/2 cup mango juice

1/4 cup fresh lime juice

1 cup (8 ounces) ginger beer

Fresh pineapple wedges, for garnish

Fresh mango slices, for garnish

Directions

Classic Shirley Temple

Ingredients:

1 (10-ounce) jar maraschino cherries, juice and cherries, divided

1 (2-liter) bottle lemon lime soda

1 orange, thinly sliced

Directions:

In a large pitcher, whisk together juice and soda.

Serve over ice, garnished with cherries and orange slices, if desired.
