Prostate health is an important part of overall wellness for African American men. According to doctors with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Black men have a greater risk of getting prostate cancer, and a more aggressive type, than White men. And like many diseases, food and diet can be a tremendous tool in keeping the prostate healthy.
What is the prostate?
The prostate is a gland located between the bladder and the penis. About the size of a walnut, it lies just in front of the rectum.
The prostate’s most important function is the production of a fluid that nurtures sperm cells and makes up semen.
