Kitiya King Stuns the World of Beauty with Toxin-Free Beauty Company

Billions of dollars are spent on cosmetic products each year. According to data, Americans spent approximately $31.7 billion dollars on cosmetics in 2023. Kitiya King, the founder of Mischo Beauty, is one Black woman who is staking claim to some of these dollars and making waves in the industry.

The birth of Mischo Beauty took place in 2013, two years after the birth of her son. Unable to find safe, non-toxic nail polish during her pregnancy, it was then that King decided to take matters into her hands. Armed with a degree in Chemistry from Spelman College, the licensed cosmetologist, esthetician and makeup artist was determined to create what she couldn’t find. Since then, King says she’s been “committed to doing no harm” as her enterprise aims to upgrade her customers’ manicures while innovating across the beauty landscape.

Her 10 vegan, cruelty-free hues have garnered rave reviews, taking home awards from some of the world’s top beauty brands. Mischo Beauty has also been featured in several publications, including Elle, InStyle, Allure and Cosmopolitan.

Although she’s found much success so far, including being on Oprah’s Favorite Things list, be on the lookout for even more from the Mischo Beauty brand. She’s expanded her line to include blushes, hand creams, makeup tools and more.
