5 Daily Rituals to Lower Stress
Do you often have headaches, feel tension in the shoulders and find yourself with your jaws clinched? What’s happening?
Your body is experiencing stress. When we’re stressed, our bodies naturally release stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. Shallow breathing, coupled with a faster heartbeat, can lead to headaches or tense muscles.
Ways to Release Stress
- Start your morning relaxed and focused. Journaling, reading positive affirmations or watching the sun rise can create a calm that can last for hours.
- Take frequent breaks throughout the day. Get up and stretch. Listen to calming music. Have a cup of tea and allow the mind to relax and wander. Take a walk outside in the sun.
- Exercise is a powerful stress reliever. It releases tension while also releasing good-feeling endorphins in the brain.
- Take a power nap. Rest works wonders.
- Simply BREATHE.

Stress is real and while your 5 stress relievers sound very good and are indeed effective, they’re not realistic for the everyday person who’s on the grind. I would love to take a nap during the day or even exercise daily or at least three times a week, but I barely am able to do it on the weekends. However, all is not lost. I do what I can when I can and am able to live a low to stress-free life because I do other things that also help, like choosing to be happy, choosing to be drama free, choosing peace at all cost and having faith in God!
