Music can affect us on a deeper level. In a 2013 study by The Journal of Positive Psychology, people who listened to music that could be classified as happy and upbeat were able to improve their mood in a matter of weeks.
Another study conducted in 2015 found that people who listened to music before, during, or after surgery suffered less pain and anxiety compared to those who didn’t listen to music.
