Since we have been staying safe and home, many have incorporated a beautiful yoga practice into their daily lives. And as with any physical activity, injury can occur if you are not careful. Here are 3 things to do and keep in mind to keep injury-free.

  1. Listen to your body. While practicing yoga, it is important not to push yourself too far. If at any point you feel pain, please stop and take a step back in the movement. Remember, yoga is about feeling good and relaxing into the stretches and movements.
  2. Breathe, breathe and breathe. Controlling the breath is vital in getting the most out of your yoga practice. Never hold your breath. Inhale and exhale continuously to allow for smooth, controlled movements. Fill your lungs with fresh oxygen and exhale into your stretches to release tension and tightness in the muscles and joints.
  3. Pick your perfect online teacher. If your regular yoga teacher isn’t available now, there are many great yoga videos online. Make sure you find a teacher who you connect with. A good yoga teacher will explain the movements and encourage you to practice a safe session.
